OU plays as a part of the Hudson Valley Youth Soccer League.

Season Schedule

OU’s year begins with the Summer season and we typically keep a team together for 10 months. Games are during the fall and spring seasons for ten weeks each (September-November and April through June) and typically take place on Sundays. We may also join weekend tournaments within driving distance. OU will have practices and clinics in the winter and summer, but we typically take off the months of December and July.

Fall Season: September-November

The first game is always the first Sunday after Labor Day. There are no games on Indigenous Peoples’ weekend.

Sprint Season: April - June

The first game is usually the first Sunday in April and the last game is Father’s Day. There is no game on Easter or Memorial Day, but games can still be scheduled during spring break if it falls in April.

Practice Commitment

Practice is held twice a week at the coaches’ choosing, usually Mondays and Thursdays, and do not change throughout the season, to instill commitment. Indoor practice is held during the winter months to maintain ball skills and team spirit.

Roster

OU will not register more than 5 kids beyond the number that are allowed on the field for a game. So for example, if we intend to register a U10 team, which requires 7 kids on the field, we will not enroll more than 12 athletes. If more kids are interested in joining an OU team, coaches can decide whether to have tryouts or create a practice squad and a game squad. Tryouts need to have input from at least three coaches/staff of the club and can’t be at the discretion of one coach. Dedication, skills, and attendance at OCSD should be highly valued.

Playing Time
Coaches will strive to grant players 50% playing time during the game. Considerations in granting playing time include the following variables 1) progression of ball skills week-to-week, 2) commitment and focus in practice, and 3) attitude on and off the field towards coaches, teammates, and referees.
